The method you use to get your marabou feather nice and neat basically involves pinching the very tip of the marabou, tying in a full plume to each side of the fly. You will have to decide which kind of plumes you want to use, however many seasoned fishermen choose the very fluffy ones. When it comes to using these feathers, there are many different uses you can get out of them, including tailing and sometimes wings if you have a smaller bonefish fly. When tailing with marabou, you will want to simply strip off a portion of the barbs from the plume and tie a full one.

Anyone who decides to use the wings will want to hold them between the thumb and forefinger and tie the tips of the marabou together. Using these fly tying techniques when you go wishing will greatly increase your chances of getting the fish to bite. Remember that there are a lot of different patterns to use and other tying methods to consider, however these have been proven to be the most effective, so you will want to try them first.
